1975 Press Photo Louis Savoye Sr. rides bicycle to inspect French Market project This is an original press photo. Wheeling along colonnaded buildings and crews of carpenters, painters and masons working on the French Market renovation project is general superintendent Louis Savoye Sr., who makes his inspection tours astride a dilapidated bicycle. Under construction for two years, the French Market project involves five separate buildings spread over a four-block area along the river. Not only does Savoye save shoe leather by pedaling, but he also avoids fatigue. He explained that a hip ailment makes standing or walking for long periods of time uncomfortable, so the bicycle offers him a perfect mode of transportation. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
