I have for sale a very nice 1972 Schwinn five speed Apple Krate parts bike. As you can see in the pictures, this bicycle is nearly complete. It is only missing just a few major things and then it will be a complete bike.
The date code on the frame is EHXXXXX which makes it a May of 1972. The shiny flamboyant red paint on this frame looks out of this world. Look how nice it shines and glimmers in the sunlight. There are very few flaws in this paint right now and it looks awesome.
Next on the list is the Schwinn fork assembly. I do not know what the current age of this fork assembly is, but what I do know is the chrome looks beautiful and shiny. No rust here, folks.
Then here is the 16 inch single speed front wheel. The chrome on it shines, shines, shines. Like the fork assembly, there is no rust on this front wheel assembly that I can see.
The front 16 inch tire on the wheel is in good used condition. There is very little wear and tear on this tire. It will last for many years to come.
Next is the original buffed Schwinn Approved Type BS 3.6 brake caliper. It is 50 years old now, but you would never guess that by looking at it. There is very little wear and tear on this caliper assembly.
Then there is the original 1972 rear fender with its safety edge. It does have some light scuff marks here and there on it, but this rear fender is 50 years old. The chrome on it still looks out of this world. The underside of it, however, does have the typical road grime on it that has built up throughout the years. It is appropriate for the age of this fender.
The front Schwinn head badge is in very good condition. There is very little wear and tear on it.
The 14 inch seat post and the seat post clamp are original. They both are still in fantastic condition for their age.
The 1972 dated pedal crank and sprocket assembly are original. Your not going to find very much rust on these babies. They’re not perfect, but they are very close to it.
We now come to the original 1972 dated Schwinn Tubular S2 20 inch five speed wheel with a brand new Schwinn Stingray Slik tire on it. Look how nice it looks. There is, however, a few small dings here and there on the side of the rim, but not severe. The chrome rim does have the S2 stampings on it (see pics).The chrome on this whole assembly looks nice, though. It spins straight and true like it should.
This package is a great start to creating a fantastic Schwinn Krate bicycle.
