This technology works with a magnet and an associated sensor on the wheel, which after every turn by cable sends an impulse to the tachometer. This converts the number and speed of the pulses into range and speed. In order for this conversion to work, the bike computer must, of course, know how far the wheel is traveling with one revolution. This corresponds to the circumference of the tire, which must be entered in millimeters.
