For sale is a beautiful Cherry Cycles steel road bike. Seat tube measures 60cm ctc, top tube measures 57cm. I normally ride a 58cm and it fits me perfectly as currently built. Frame is in mint condition - no visible wear except for a few small paint chips (see photos). I built this bike using only the very highest quality period-correct parts. Many of the parts are rare or one-of-a-kind and most are in mint condition. Here's the parts list: White Industries first generation freewheel hubs laced to Mavic Open 4 CD rims, butted spokes, black anodized nipples - the folks at White Industries said that these were the first hubs they offered and that they only made about 200 sets - rims show some brake wear but wheelset is in very good condition overall 13-28 Dura-Ace 7400 7s freewheel - mint Suntour Superbe Pro derailleurs and downtube shifters (rear shifter is indexing) Custom machined Specialized "Flag" crankset with 52-42 Specialized aluminum chainrings - the back of the crank arms was professionally milled out to save weight. These were OEM with the frame and I believe that John Cherry himself did the machining Titanium spindle American Classic bottom bracket - mint Regina Superleggera hollow pin chain - mint Dia-Compe BRS SL single-pivot brake calipers with full titanium hardware (pads, mounting bolt, cable anchor, etc.) - vgc Dia-Compe Gran Compe brake levers - mint Mark Zeh 125mm quill stem w/ Ti hardware - mint Early vintage Chris King 1" threaded headset - mint ITM Super Italia Pro 260 43cm handlebars - vgc American Classic 27.2mm seatpost - vgc Selle Italia Turbo SLG saddle (lightweight aluminum rail version) - good American Classic bottle cages - mint American Classic QR skewers - mint As currently built, the complete bike weighs just 18.6 pounds. This frame is one of the finest examples of American framebuilding that I have seen. Including a magazine article scan in the photos that talks about John Cherry, the builder. This is Cherry's "Jubilee" model. Here's a description in John Cherry's words: THE Cherry Jubilee "Formerly the FAT BOY" Road model Unique assembly technique; 1/2 lugged -- 1/2 lugless. Smooth flowing clean aero look designed for the discriminating cyclist. The use of Nivacrom steel with a very high yield strength has cut tube thickness down to four tenths, giving this set extra lightness. The frames built with EL tubing are the lightest of all, yet their resilience and toughness are comparable to those of any other steel frames. "The Fat Boy was conceived one sleepless night when I struggled to decide if I liked lugged or lugless fillet brazed frames best. There I was struggling to decide which I liked better and I wasn't going to sleep till I decided. After tossing around for hours weighing all the pros and cons it became obvious that I liked both and if forced to decide I would get no sleep. It was then that I conceived of the idea to blend the two together. "The next day I started building the first prototype for my wife Marcia. It was Marcia that arrived at the name "Fat Boy" for her bike as she desired to own a Harley Davidson. I decided that the name was appropriate since our unique design freed us from the constraints of traditional sized tubing and lugs. I chose to use the finest steel tubing available for bicycles: Columbus' new EL Nivacrom Tubing."
