Stewart-warner Sears Speedometer Head 26" Wheel 50 Mph Bicycle

T his is a nice example of a used 26" Sears speedometer head from Stewart-Warner, with a dial calibrated for bicycles with 26" front wheels. It's all complete and in good working order, ready to install. (Drive cable not included) The plastic speedometer casing is 3" in diameter and about 2" deep, and is in good original condition, molded in black. The dial is finished in cream with a red-orange pointer, black logo and black numbers. There is no datestamp on the underside, but the design of the head with the center-rotation pointer and the style of Sears logo show that this dates from the 1970s. Both the case and dial cover have been polished and waxed. Some scratches remain in the case, but they're not obvious. A previous owner has glued on the clear dial, so disassembly is not possible, but I have tested this and verified that it's in good working order. Accumulated mileage is just passing 0220. 0 . This speedometer head is in full working order, and would be correct for any bike from the 1950s through the early 1980s. The handlebar mounting bracket is included. It will need a Stewart-Warner drive cable/hub assembly for a finished installation on your vintage 26" bike.
