Vintage Rossin Bicycle - Unbelievable Fully Restored Time Capsule - Campagnolo Super Record Components
This Rossin is a very rare and fully restored gem ... this side of the Po river and elsewhere !! No expense has been spared in the restoration, down to the last minute detail - to make the bike perfectly period correct and ready for Concours d'Elegance competition. This Rossin was purchased in 1979 by Edward Davis, when he was managing Hendrickson's Bicycles in Santa Barbara, California. Ed rode the bike only on special occasions, when the time was right and fitness was high. The Iconic Lighthouse Century in San Luis Obispo, California was one such example, where fast times on the order of 4 hours were routinely possible. The Rossin fit right in to this dynamic. As homage to atomic youth, a Champagne cork hangs from the seat rails. That is, a little cork was always kept in reserve, to pop during the last kilometer. As well, enjoy art - other than what Henry Ford had, and what current myopic bicycle marketing have in mind ... "You can have any color, so long as it is black." About Rossin: Marco Rossin was the head frame builder at Colnago until 1974, when he established his own brand. Currently on E-Bay there are more than 10 steel road bikes listed at about $3500. Most of these have period correct flaws, such as incorrect brake hoods, seats, cables housing, et cetera. The definition of period correct can also get tricky. Some would argue that every single component on the bike must come from the same production year. Alternatively, parts available at Rossin (or at other builders) at the time were used. So, the definition varies. Therefore, with known provenance, this Rossin may meet your definition of period correct. When combined with NEVER RIDDEN NOS Components, the price is very fair.
